TWC Offers More than Forecasts

The Weather Channel (TWC) has developed a series of new materials that integrate multimedia technologies into the classroom. These materials make the teaching of weather, earth science and the environment easier, more accessible and more exciting. An all-new content area has been launched on The Weather Channel's Web site (www.weather.com). Called "How's and Why's," the section contains weather history, definitions, teacher resources and a TWC programming guide. Classes may also submit questions to real meteorologists at The Weather Channel. TWC is also offering a teacher's edition of its Everything Weather CD-ROM, with a guide for use in the classroom. The disc includes video clips, maps, photographs, a glossary, climate data and activities such as "Name That Cloud" and "TornadoWatch." Another new product, "Hurricanes: Season on Edge" follows the network's coverage of the 1995 hurricane season. This teacher video package includes an extensive guide with discussion questions, class projects and cross-curricular enrichment activities. Contact TWC for information on these and other projects.
