Virus SW Boasts Automatic Updates

SAM (Symantec AntiVirus for Macintosh) in its newest Version 4.0 features automatic updates. One can schedule the program -- weekly, monthly or any other time period -- to dial into Symantec’s free bulletin board and download antidotes to new Mac viruses. SAM works in the background at all times, scanning for suspicious activity. It even works in a wide range of compressed files. It also creates a custom decontamination disk for "clean" rebooting if a virus d'es crash the system. Version 4.0, optimized for Power Macs, offers a new interface where all components are found in one menu; faster scans and more compressed file formats are also supported. Finally, SAM Administrator (in multi-pack and site-license versions) lets schools offer virus protection to every Mac on their network.
