10x CD-ROM Drive Draws Power from PC

The ProMedia 10XR is a portable, top-loading 10-speed CD-ROM drive. Because the external drive draws power directly from a computer via a Type II PC card, it requires no bulky AC adapters or battery packs.

The 10XR's data transfer rate of 1.5MB/sec, allowing for faster access to databases as well as smoother video and audio.

The unit weighs 20 ounces and measures 6" x 7" x 1.75". It supports 32-bit Plug and Play (PNP) functionality for Windows 95. As a result, users can insert many discs and instantly run titles without clicking on program icons or doiing setup procedures.

An optional XRP kit permits connection to a computer's parallel printer port rather than the PC Card slot. Axonix Corp., Salt Lake City, UT, (800) 866-9797.
