Ten More Schools Sign With CampusMCI

In the first month of this year, MCI inked ten new campusMCI contracts, bringing to 365 the number of contracts with universities and colleges across the U.S. Introduced in 1994, campusMCI provides educational institutions with telecommunications and business services, along with the technological tools needed by students, staff and faculty.

The campusMCI umbrella encompasses: campusMCI Internet, offering 28.8 Kbps access speeds, technical support, e-mail and advance billing; campusMCI Card, which can serve as a student ID, entry key for campus facilities, long-distance telephone calling card and more; and campusMCI Masters, a telecommunications tool that gives universities the opportunity to generate revenue for additional student services.

The University of Colorado at Boulder, one of the new contracts, now provides Internet access to more than 29,000 individuals campus-wide. At the University of Central Arkansas, students and staff now can dial into the ënet with ìvirtually no busy signals,î says Earl McGehee, director of computer services.
