Grant: Pledge to match up to $3 million in funds

DESCRIPTION: The Founder of Schools Online, Kamran Elahian, has made a pledge to match up to $3 million in funds raised by Schools Online in 1999. The pledge was made at the Hank Lopez Community Center in San Jose in an effort to challenge individuals, corporations and foundations to support Internet access for schools. The goal of this challenge is to raise a total of $7 million by December 31st so that Schools Online can bring initial Internet access equipment and professional development to 1,500 schools and community centers in the U.S. and establish technology resource centers for schools in developing countries.
