Students Weather A Classroom Challenge

The Weather Channel and Carrier Corp. have partnered to produce The Weather Classroom Indoor Weather Program. New episodes of The Weather Classroom have been produced for schools along with a cross-curricular teachers' guide. A competition for students is also being offered to encourage teamwork on addressing today's indoor environment challenges.

The program meets appropriate Earth and Physical Science, Geography and History national standards while introducing students to timely and fascinating concepts like the development of climate control, its impact on social trends, industry, architecture, indoor air quality and historical preservation. It provides six, eight-minute video programs, a teachers' guide with hands-on experiments and activities, and a chance for students to apply what they learn in a team competition.

Beginning in January 2000, The Weather Classroom Indoor Weather Program will air commercial-free on The Weather Channel. Teachers can receive a free copy of the video program, the teachers' guide and entry forms for Weather Classroom Indoor Weather Challenge by writing to: The Weather Channel Classroom Indoor Weather Program, P.O. Box 9, Powder Springs, GA, 30127. The Weather Channel, Atlanta, GA, (770)226-0000, www.weatherchannel.com.
