Microtech International’s iMac and G3-friendly USB CameraMate is a compact, cross-platform digital film reader. It streamlines the process of transferring digital photos from digital storage cards to USB compatible computer systems, transferring digital images at speeds over 30 times faster than conventional serial cable downloads.

The unit is able to work with two of the leading formats of digital film in use today: SmartMedia in 3.3v and 5v up to 128MB, and CompactFlash cards, including the new thicker (5mm) CFII form-factor cards in any capacity. New features include a separate CFII slot with a mechanical ejector button and a dedicated SmartMedia slot with a spring-loaded ejector mechanism. A longer, 1 meter cable assures the unit can be used with both desktop and tower systems. The unit’s redesign even extends to the enclosure itself, with a high-tech design that is fabricated out of new polymers to accent the iMac and other "new concept" computers.
