Farallon Communications, Inc. has announced the availability of their Fast Starlet Gig Switch/4SX. With four 1000Base-SX Fiber Gigabit ports, this switch is ideal for creating a high-speed 1000 Mbps network backbone. Its store-and-forward switching architecture forwards data with minimum delay, and it can forward packets at 1,488,000 packets per second. It is IEEE 802.3z compliant for full protocol compatibility, and it stores up to 32,000 unique MAC addresses. The switch has a maximum aggregate bandwidth of 4000 Mbps.
