GAP NET SECURE

GAP NET SECURE, a provider of onboard electronics, micro-controllers and electronic authentication technology, announces its Secure PC product that protects information from being accessed, stolen, or corrupted from Internet sites, PCs and peripheral devices. The Secure PC is ideally suited for computer manufacturers, online payment agencies, banks, retail catalog Web sites, software and online music publishers, as well as other organizations that offer online payment services. Marked as a smart card reader, Secure PC is installed in a drive bay inside the PC, thus eliminating the need for additional desktop space. It electronically controls the startup of peripherals, verifies user authorization, and identifies and prevents thieves or hackers from using the unit or trying to boot up the system via a diskette.

Only authenticated users may access and use the system. The product combines several authentication functions for networks, the Internet and electronic payments, and acts as an electronic key for the PC's peripherals, data and applications. In addition, Secure PC has a wide range of applications that enables the Internet user to be verified for e-commerce transactions. User identification is assured by a pre-programmed smart card, and authorized users can launch into the system with a password. Secure PC also acts as an identification system filter to restrict telephone calls, history access and history control to and from the Internet. The technology allows users to secure new and existing mail messages by utilizing tools for privacy, cryptography, no-reply messages and certification. It provides individual users and organizations a means of tracking operative tasks and history schedules, and access to peripherals, software and the Internet via smart cards, memory cards, or radio remote control.
