Secure Wireless

Lucent's ORiNOCO AS-2000 Access Server (AS-2000) is a high-speed wireless networking system designed to enhance network security and provide comprehensive user and network management for service providers, businesses, educational institutions and government organizations. An extension of the ORiNOCO wireless networking product line, the AS-2000 has new features such as a per-user, per-session encryption that provides high levels of security to each wireless session. It also provides automatic individual encryption key management, which protects the network from intrusions and simplifies key management processes.

In addition, the built-in RADIUS Client provides User Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA), which enables network managers to more effectively control access to the entire wireless network. The protocol identifies users before allowing access to the network and authorizes them for service according to their specific profiles. Networks equipped with the AS-2000 can be managed and configured remotely, using the ORiNOCO AS Manager tool. The AS-2000 is a standard SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) device, providing versatility and flexibility in device management and monitoring.

By using ORiNOCO Active Ethernet technology, the AS-2000 can receive DC power and data through a single CAT5 Ethernet cable, saving the cost of bringing main power to each unit. The system's two PC Card slots can provide additional versatility and capacity, as well as a simple migration path to new radio technologies. The system also uses a high-power processor to provide maximum network performance and to enable it to support new system features as they are introduced.
