Late Breaks - Edward R. Warnshius, Jr. Spearheaded a Mentoring Program

Edward R. Warnshius, Jr. (the son of T.H.E. Journal founder Edward Warnshius, Sr.) has spearheaded a mentoring program to help high school students pass the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) tests. Warnshius was shocked to find that hundreds of students at Lawrence High School in North Andover, MA, were projected to fail the MCAS tests, leaving them ineligible to graduate. In response, he has organized a community volunteer effort of mentors and tutors called "Stand and Deliver." The goal is to match each at-risk student with a mentor or tutor. Training for volunteers begins in mid-March.
