CoSN Launches Site to Combat Cyber Security Threats

The Consortium for School Network-ing (CoSN) and the Mass Networks Education Partnership have united to develop Cyber Security for the Digital District (http://securedistrict.cosn.org), a Web resource to help K-12 schools and districts combat ever-increasing cyber security threats. The site was developed to include self-evaluation tools, best practices and professional development workshops geared toward two audiences: superintendents/policymakers and school technology directors. It features resources that help them understand the issues, gauge the first steps they need to take, and gain community support. Specifics of network security are also discussed, such as the planning process and suggestions for evaluating a school’s security status. In addition, educators can submit case studies and peruse the achievement stories of other schools.
