NEARLY 10 YEARS in the making, Inspiration 8—the latest version of Inspiration Software’s (www.inspiration.com) popular visual learning tool—has just been released. With Inspiration 8 comes a full lineup of new capabilities to help strengthen students’ critical-thinking, comprehension, and writing skills, such as: an online collection of more than a million symbols to help students better visualize their ideas; an expanded library of more than 120 cross-curricular templates designed to support language arts, science, and social studies instruction; an innovative dictionary, thesaurus, and contextual spell-checker to streamline the revision process; more than 50 standards-based curriculum packets to help improve student achievement across all subjects; and new on-demand training videos that offer step-by-step instructions on how to master all of Inspiration’s features. Price: Through June 30, schools and districts that own volume licenses of Inspiration 7.0 and above can save 10 percent off the regular price when they upgrade to Inspiration 8; single license upgrades are $29.95. Users who purchased their software after Nov. 1, 2005, are eligible for a complimentary upgrade. Regular price for a single copy of Inspiration 8 is $69, and upgrades are $39.95.
