##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

11.15.2006—The Qwest Foundation has launched a new program called Qwest Teachers and Technology. Through the program, Qwest will provide $900,000 that will go toward grants for technology in education.

According to Qwest, the purpose of the grant program is to help individual teachers implement technologies that will help enhance the educational experience in the classroom. The grants will be administered by Qwest partner organizations in 12 western states.

"The advancement of technology in the classroom is key to continuously improving our local and national education system," said Teresa Taylor, Qwest's executive vice president and chief human resource officer, in a prepared statement. "The Qwest Teachers and Technology grant program is a unique opportunity for educators to find innovative ways to bring technology into the classroom and better prepare students to succeed."

Qwest says the grants will be awarded to teachers "through a competitive grant process." The Qwest Foundation's grants are directed toward K-12 and preschool institutions. Grant applications and more information can be found on Qwest's community site below.
