APPLE has launched new versions of its professionalaudio applications Logic Pro and Logic Express. The high-endLogic Pro, now in version 8, has been released in a studiosuite, with pricing cut in half for education institutions. LogicExpress has traditionally been a stepping stone betweenGarageBand and Logic Pro. However, with the latest release ofLogic Express 8, the application is now identical to Logic Pro8, with the exception of four high-end features: surround mixing,distributed audio processing, support for Digidesign TDMhardware, and support for ultra-high-end control surfaces. Price: $149 (single educationallicense for Logic Studio, which includes Logic Pro); $69 (single educational license forLogic Express).
