The tournament, presented by Tabula Digita, is an educational video game competition for students in grades 3 through 8. It included 12 preliminary rounds that began in November, with 240 competitors earning a spot in the finals. The tournament uses DimensionM, which challenges players to carry out missions by solving math problems.

Zachariah Chou of Silver Trails Middle School in Broward County, Florida won first place and was awarded a $50,000 scholarship, $1,000 cash, a trip to Las Vegas, NV, and tickets to a concert featuring Lady Gaga, the Black Eyed Peas, and Beyonce.

Johnathan Von Walton, from Liberty Middle School in Hillsborough County, also in Florida, won second place. Tristen Even of Austin Middle School in Garland, TX took third place.

Tyler Kapadia, from Walnut Glen Elementary School, also in Garland, won first place in the junior division. He was awarded a $10,000 scholarship, a Disneyworld vacation, and tickets to a Lady Gaga concert.

Jacob Erb, from Watkins Elementary School in Chesterfield, VA, took second place in the junior division, and Sebastian Millien, from the School of Science and Technology in Brooklyn, NY, took third.

Currently, students in grades 3 through 8 can compete in the U Games Summer Challenge, which began May 30 and will end August 7.

The Summer Challenge also uses DimensionM and will consist of five individual online rounds, each lasting two weeks. Prizes will include an iPod Nano, roller blades, and gift cards.
