Samsung Techwin America’s Electronic Imaging Division is accepting entries for its Fall Superhero Competition until November 30.
The winning student will receive $500, and his or her class will receive a SAMCAM 860 document camera.
Students in grades K-12 who attend school in the United States or a federal territory can submit video entries of 1-3 minutes in length in which they portray their favorite historical character. Previous finalists have submitted entries portraying:
- Amelia Earhart;
- Neil Armstrong;
- Claude Monet;
- Hellen Keller;
- Leonardo DaVinci; and
- Johnny Appleseed among others.
Entries can be used to build on a unit of instruction by expanding on and incorporating topics currently being studied in the classroom,.
The videos, which can be recorded on low-resolution cameras, "will be judged on presentation performance, character and content accuracy, and content quality," according to information released by the company.
The MSRP of the Samsung SAMCAM 860 is $799. The camera is a digital presenter designed to promote active learning instruction techniques, which engage and involve students in lessons to promote better retention of the material presented in the classroom.
