Florida Virtual School Offers Leadership Training for Educators

Florida Virtual School (FLVS) will host a two-day training session for individuals planning to create or manage a virtual or blended learning program.

Scheduled for April 25-26, Virtual Leadership Training (VLT) is designed to help educators "ask the right questions, do the right planning, and create a blueprint for action," according to information released by the company.

Topics addressed by the workshop include staffing and hiring, funding and budget policies, data management, performance management, recruiting and retention, accountability, curriculum, learning management systems, program evaluation, and program marketing.

Currently offering more than 110 courses, FLVS was founded in 1997 as the first state-wide online public high school in the United States. With funding tied directly to student performance, FLVS served more than 122,000 students in 57 countries with more than 1,400 staff members in the 2010-2012 school year.

The workshop, open to educators based outside of Florida, will take place at FLVS headquarters in Orlando and cost $995 pre person with 10 and 15 percent discounts for groups of three or more or five or more, respectively.

Other upcoming workshops are scheduled for July 18-19 and October 17-18. A one-day workshop held in conjunction with the Florida Sterling Council's Education Summit will also take place May 30 for $595.
