Extron Releases Campus Communication Suite

Extron Electronics has released a new communication suite for school campuses that combines multiple tools into a single software package. GlobalViewer Campus Communication Suite is a complete software and hardware solution for managing audio-visual communications over the network, according to information released by the company.

Users can access GlobalViewer Campus Communication Suite's graphical user interface through an Extron TouchLink touch panel or GlobalViewer Web page and use it to control bell schedules, PA announcements, the intercom system, classroom audiovisual systems, digital signage, and other systems, such as HVAC and lighting. GlobalViewer integrates with third-party systems to support existing communication systems.

"It gives districts the flexibility to use the existing network infrastructure and eliminates the need to maintain multiple systems," said Anthony Cortes, director of sales and marketing, K-12 classroom systems for Extron, in a prepared statement.

Key features of GlobalViewer Campus Communication Suite include:

  • Bell schedule management at the school or district level;
  • Ability to modify or disable bell schedules for special events or school closures;
  • Support for live PA system announcements or on-demand playback of prerecorded messages;
  • Ability to broadcast announcements to the entire campus or restrict them to a specific area or room;
  • Integrated intercom system with support for two-way voice communication between user panels placed throughout the campus
  • Digital signage system for managing visual announcements, promotions, and advertising on displays throughout the campus;
