Online K-5 Math Program Enhances Student Progress Tracking

DreamBox Learning has enhanced its online mathematics instructional program to include tracking of student progress against four regional math standards in addition to its existing Common Core State Standards-aligned reporting.

The ability to track student progress in comparison to the standards was requested by educators, according to a company release, including those adhering to the four sets of regional standards now integrated: Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL), Western and Northern Canadian Protocol (WNCP) Mathematics Framework, and the Ontario Curriculum.

"We've enhanced DreamBox Learning Math as a direct result of our commitment to listen to and meet the needs of educators seeking to accelerate the velocity of learning in the classroom," said Jessie Woolley-Wilson, President and CEO of DreamBox Learning.

The enhancement of student progress tracking within the program to measure against regional and national standards is intended to help educators monitor groups of students as they progress toward mastery of a given concept or skill, allowing teachers to create more effective, targeted lesson plans and fine-tune work groups for both off and online instruction in blended learning environments, according to a company release.

The DreamBox Learning Math online program is driven by the company's intelligent adaptive learning engine, which is intended to "tailor every math lesson to meet a student's unique needs in their optimal learning zone," according to the company Web site. The engine accomplishes this by adapting the level of difficulty, scaffolding, sequencing, the number of hints, and the pacing in real-time to allow students of all levels to progress at an individualized pace.
