Lesson Planet Redesigns its Site for Mobile Device Users

Lesson Planet has redesigned its website to be more mobile-friendly. According to the company, faster, more comprehensive search and adaptable views will help tablet and smartphone users access teacher reviews and links to online curriculum resources.

“What we really wanted to do was make it easier to be productive when you’re thinking about work, but aren’t in your classroom,” said Lesson Planet's director of content and learning Jennifer Gibson, who is also an 18-year teaching veteran.

According to the Pew Research Internet Project, teachers are power users of the mobile Internet. For example:

  • 84% use the Internet weekly to find content that will engage students;
  • 80% use the Internet weekly to find material to help create lesson plans;
  • 92% say the Internet has had a major impact on their teaching with increased access to content, resources and materials; and
  • smartphone use to access the Internet is more than double the rate of the general adult population

With the changes to Lesson Planet, as Gibson put it, “You can find and save lessons from your phone if you have an idea while you’re out running errands.”
