WNET Launches Free Videos for Principal PD
WNET has launched a free series of videos highlighting five key practices of exemplary
principals.
"School Leadership in Action: Principal
Profiles" comprises five 12-minute-long videos designed to offer "an up-close look at what they do to improve teaching and lift student
achievement," according to a news release. "The videos show the principals interacting with students, teachers and other administrators and
using effective strategies to make their schools successful. The collection is intended for principals, aspiring principals and those who
train and support principals so that they will see effective practices firsthand and be inspired by these outstanding principals."
Practices highlighted in the videos, previously highlighted in
"The School Principal as Leader: Guiding Schools to Better Teaching and Learning," include:
- Shaping a vision of academic success;
- Creating a hospitable climate for education;
- Cultivating leadership;
- Improving instruction; and
- Managing people, data and processes for school improvement.
Appropriate for formal and informal settings, as well as directed or self-directed learning, the videos are accompanied by support
materials and join a growing collection of WNET videos for principals and principal trainers and supporters.
The videos are currently available at
pbslearningmedia.com and wallacefoundation.org.
