Carnegie Learning Inks Commitment to Protect Student Information
Carnegie Learning, a provider of software- and web-based personalized learning solutions, yesterday joined more than 300 education technology companies in signing a pledge to protect student information.
Carnegie offers research-based mathematics software, textbooks and professional development and data analysis services for middle and high schools.
“We are committed not only to transforming math education for students everywhere, but also to protecting their privacy,” said Barry Malkin, CEO at Carnegie Learning, in a press release. “Our goal is to put better math learning within reach for both teachers and students in a safe, secure way.”
The Future of Privacy Forum (FPF) and the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA) introduced the “K–12 School Service Provider Pledge to Safeguard Student Privacy” in 2014 “to safeguard student privacy regarding collection, maintenance and use of student personal information,” according to the Student Privacy Pledge website.
The FPF and SIIA pledge has been endorsed by former President Obama, the National Parent Teacher Association, the National School Boards Association and others. The pledge has been signed by more than 300 education technology companies and counting.
