Blackboard and Chalk Partner to Provide Gradebook, Portfolio Tools

Blackboard and chalk have been reunited in a new strategic partnership. Education technology powerhouse Blackboard has announced a new partnership with Chalk.com, a company that provides productivity tools used by more than 200,000 teachers worldwide. The latter’s platform will be integrated with Blackboard Web Community Manager (BWCM), a community engagement platform.

BWCM is equipped with the latest formative and summative assessment tracking tools, and gives parents and students access to important class information, like grades and assignments, according to a prepared statement. Through the partnership, BWCM will deliver Markboard, “a best-in-class digital gradebook and portfolio for K–12 educators.” Teachers will be able to see a student’s grade in context and create a learning portfolio aligned with academic standards.
