TeachPoint Adds Video Observation Tool to Educator Evaluation Platform

TeachPoint has released a video observation tool designed to help improve educator self-reflection, coaching and evaluation.

The new tool is integrated with the company's TeachPoint Educator Evaluation Solution and is designed to allow users to incorporate video observation into any part of their educator evaluation process, such as self-evaluation, peer coaching or formal observations. Users can add notes or coaching comments to time-stamped locations on the video to more meaningful and constructive feedback.

"By permitting teachers to record lessons, the conversations about instructional practices have improved because the video evidence supports what was observed," said Tim Teehan, superintendent at Somerville Public Schools, where 90 percent of teachers use video observations, in a prepared statement. "The videos can also serve as a model for other teachers to emulate."

"We believe that every student deserves a great education, and our goal is to empower educators with intuitive solutions that improve professional growth and teaching effectiveness," stated Chris Dunn, Vice President of Product Development for TeachPoint. "Our Educator Evaluation Solution was developed in partnership with school districts and customer input continues to drive product enhancements. We're pleased to make the new video observation feature available to our customers to help improve instruction by making reflection and feedback more accessible, immediate and actionable."
