New Competition Asks Young Women: What's Your Dream Tech Career?

"Heart transplant surgeon." "Computer scientist." "Data science business owner." Those are three of the current entries in a competition that will award 15 separate $2,000 grants to help young women pursue their dreams in technology.

The third annual "New Face of Tech" program is easy to enter. By Dec. 12, 2019, students upload a photo of themselves, state what their dream career is and share it with their friends online.

The program is run by the nonprofit 1,000 Dreams Fund and supported by audio electronics company Harman. 1,000 Dreams has set a goal of setting up scholarships funding for a thousand girls.

Besides the funding, the students who are chosen as winners also get a career coaching session with a Harman executive and a set of headphones or speakers from the company's JBL product line.

Female students can enter on the 1000 Dreams website.
