Trade Champions Challenge Competition for High Schoolers Open to Applicants, Will Award Thousands in Prizes

Supporting students on their pathway to STEM success, Stanley Black & Decker and Discovery Education are inviting high school students to join the new Trade Champions Challenge and compete for prizes including cash awards of up to $15,000.

The challenge aims to introduce students to the unique opportunities offered through trade careers, encouraging them to consider a new career or education path. The Trade Champions Challenge builds upon a Stanley Black & Decker and Discovery Education educational program called Innovation Generation, whose mission is to engage and empower students to become makers through free digital STEM-focused lessons and hands-on project guides.

To enter the Trade Champions Challenge, high school students must create a 30-60 second video explaining why they want to be a trade professional, and submit the video by April 15, 2022 at the Trade Champions Challenge website. The entries will be judged on content, effective communication, and presentation skills by a panel of educators and representatives from Discovery Education and Stanley Black & Decker.

Each of the top three winners will receive a Stanley Black & Decker prize pack, in addition to $15,000 for first place, $10,000 for second place, and $5,000 for third place. Details and tips for making a compelling video entry are available at the Trade Champions Challenge website. Winners will be announced in June 2022.

“Today’s students will drive tomorrow’s innovation, and the trade professions are where innovation meets the real world,” said Discovery Education Vice President Beth Meyer. “Pairing STEM resources with the importance of trade, the Trade Champions Challenge offers students an exciting way to learn more about STEM careers.”
