Inspirit and Meta Team Up to Provide VR Learning to Title I Schools

The online 3D and VR STEM learning platform Inspirit recently announced its partnership with Meta (aka Facebook) Immersive Learning to provide VR Lab Starter Kits to over 100 Title I schools, starting as early as November. Applications for the program opened Sept. 1.

Meta’s $150 million investment will supply a complete VR curriculum package, VR training support, and a set of free Meta Quest 2 VR headsets free of charge to qualifying schools that serve learners ages 13 and up, with priority given to those serving underserved students.

Inspirit was started in 2019 by two college friends whose goal is to “develop the next generation of metaverse creators, fund high-quality immersive experiences, and increase access to learning through technology,” the company said in a release.

Meta said on its website that its funding initiative for VR Lab Starter Kits is driven by the desire to do its part toward workforce development online in new and upcoming technologies and that “skills are not yet being widely taught in learning institutions.”
