PowerSchool Launches New Tools and Resources to Personalize K–12 Learning

Education software company PowerSchool will be releasing updates this year to its Unified Classroom learning management system and Unified Insights data analytics platform, which include LearningNav and ContentNav, and will also add a new resource library within Unified Insights MTSS. In addition, six new clouds for personalized student learning and administrative needs will be added.

The LearningNav platform uses AI and machine learning to create a learning process geared to students’ individual needs. A teacher can customize this to determine a starting point, create learning goals, review progress based on data, and adapt the student’s plan as needed along the way.

“While educators know every student learns and develops at their own pace, they do not have the time to create individual learning pathways for each student,” said Jean Teillon, Group Vice President, Product at PowerSchool. “That’s why we have created a solution that builds personalized, standards-aligned learning paths.”

Also coming to Unified Classroom, ContentNav will give teachers access to multiple resources they might need, from district-created materials, curated partnership content, and open education resources, as recommended by the AI for each student. Teachers can also use ContentNav to find and add resources within the Schoology Learning learning management system.

PowerSchool’s Unified Insights MTSS is launching a resource library that will provide educators with tools and strategies to help support students facing challenges that affect their ability to succeed. These include resources from non-profit organizations such as:

• What Works Clearinghouse, addressing social issues like personal safety, bullying, and mental health;

• Attendance Works, offering strategies and tools for working with families, community, and policymakers to reduce absenteeism;

• Digital Promise, providing the free Learner Variability Navigator to help teachers find the best solutions to support student learning.

“With these strategies, educators can take instant action for students identified as needing support and extension within MTSS,” said Marcy Daniel, Chief Product Officer.

The Unified Insights MTSS page will give more specific information on how it works.

Six new clouds will give tools to provide teacher support and streamline administrative tasks:

• Student Information Cloud, an easy-to-use interoperable operations platform that stores and protects student data and makes it accessible to families on any mobile device;

• Personalized Learning Cloud, an assessment, planning, and instructional system that “helps students gain a greater understanding of self in relation to whole-child focus areas and ensures access and equity of the learning experience through the 5 C’s: Coherence, Collaboration, Communication, Community, and Consistency”;

• Educator Recruitment Cloud, a real-time analytics tool that streamlines and saves time in recruiting, onboarding, and record-keeping for new employees;

• Educator Effectiveness Cloud, an administrator staffing, training, and budgeting tool;

• Student Success Cloud, a student support tool that helps plan for successful student outcomes with increased family engagement and support, including access to college, career and life readiness tools;

• Workforce Development Cloud, a tool that provides resources on a wide variety of college, career, and life readiness initiatives to help individuals personalize a path to reach their goals.

All of these tools are expected to be available in the first half of 2023, PowerSchool said.
