Numerade Gives Free Access to Online STEM Program for a Year to All LAUSD Students and Teachers

Los Angeles-based ed tech company Numerade has announced it will give a free one-year subscription to the Numerade Plus AI-powered learning platform to all Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) K–12 students and teachers as a way of giving back to the community.

Students and teachers will have full access to the Numerade Plus education suite, which includes:

  • Over 100 million textbook videos;

  • Verified answers;

  • Full-length video courses;

  • Custom quizzes;

  • Unlimited "Ask an Expert" questions; and

  • A GPT-4 AI chatbot tutor.

All teachers within the LAUSD will also be able to use Numerade Plus features such as lesson plans, quizzes, and grading assignments to enhance their instruction.

The company cited recent California state data that shows most California students "don't meet grade level standards in math and reading." Supplemental learning materials and tutoring historically haven't been accessible to all students. It noted that low income has been a barrier to hiring tutors for struggling students. Numerade wants to help bridge this divide.

"This is a personal initiative for me, as Numerade was born from my own experience growing up in LA and seeing education inequity firsthand," said Nhon Ma, CEO and co-founder of Numerade. "I believe that everyone deserves a quality education, regardless of their background. Numerade is my way of giving back and helping level the playing field — we're proud to help support our community and give students opportunities and resources that they may not have otherwise."

Enrollment is open now through Dec. 31, 2023. To enroll in 12 months of free Numerade Plus, students and teachers can visit the website and use their LAUSD email address to create an account.
