Discovery Education Announces Spring Lineup of Free Virtual Field Trips

This Spring, Discovery Education is collaborating with partners such as Warner Bros., DC Comics, National Science Foundation, NBA, and more to present a series of free virtual field trips for K-12 students. The virtual events pair interactive experiences with multimedia instructional materials to connect educators and students to real-world places from the comfort of the classroom, according to the company. Each experience includes an educator guide with standards-aligned, hands-on learning activities and educator support content.

The Spring lineup of field trip events features:

  • Unleashing Life Skills with Golf Virtual Field Trip (available on demand);
  • The Superpower of Story: A Virtual Field Trip to Warner Bros. Studios (April 18);
  • Meet the Magnets: A Virtual Field Trip to the U.S. National Science Foundation National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (May 6); and
  • Total Health: A Virtual Field Trip with NBA and WNBA (May 15).

Educators can sign up their classrooms for the virtual field trips here on the Discovery Education site. After its premiere, each event remains available on demand at no cost.

"Virtual field trips give students exposure to the real world and new ideas," said Ashley Powers, senior director of partner impact at Discovery Education, in a statement. "Covering so many topics, these virtual field trips give educators new ways to help students explore and learn."
