Microsoft Launches ‘Web Watchers’ Initiative With High-Tech Partners

WebWatchersOnline.com photoMicrosoft Corp., along with AMD and a host of other companies committed to computersecurity, has launched the Web Watchers program (WebWatchersOnline.com),an Internet security and safety initiative directed at students in grades 3-8. Web Watchers provides educators withage- and curriculum-appropriate lessons that will help students understand the opportunities and risks of the Internet,including how to avoid installation of malicious software and how to protect their online identity. The site also featuresa Teachers’ Corner that offers downloadable materials and lessons — not all requiring computer access — coveringtopics such as e-mail safety, cybercitizenship, privacy and netiquette. Other companies involved with the initiativeinclude McAfee, NetZero and The CyberSmart! Education Co.
