8e6, CDW-G Partner for K-12 Internet Security

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

CDW-G and Web filtering company 8e6 Technologies have partnered up to deliver Internet security solutions to K-12 schools. Through the non-exclusive arrangement, CDW-G will make 8e6's Web filtering and reporting appliances available as part of its security solutions packages.

CDW-G will offer three packages from 8e6 Technologies through the partnership: 8e6 Professional Edition, 8e6 Standard Edition, and 8e6 ProxyBlocker.

The Professional Edition consists of three principal appliance-based technologies: the R3000, a Web filtering tool that relies on 8e6's database of millions of sites to block access to sites deemed inappropriate by a school or district; Enterprise Reporter, which processes and displays filtering logs for archival purposes and for trend analysis down to the user level; and the 8e6 Threat Analysis Reporter, which provides a security dashboard to provide real-time notifications of threats and tracking Web activity down to the user level with customizable alerts for illicit activities.

The Standard Edition includes the Web filtering component and Enterprise Reporter.

ProxyBlocker is a separate appliance designed for schools not using an 8e6 filtering solution. It blocks Web-based proxies and IM; enforces safe searches on Google and Yahoo!; filters keywords for searches; and provides admin-defined threshold limits for the number of times a user can violate Internet usage policies over a given period of time before having access denied.

In addition, CDW-G is receiving training to be certified for the 8e6 platform, so CDW-G will be able to handle installations, troubleshooting, and pre- and post-sales support.
