Washington County Deploys WiFi District-wide

##AUTHORSPLIT##<--->

Washington County School District in Utah is in the process of deploying a district-wide WiFi network covering 41 public K-12 schools that span more than 2,400 square miles.

The district said it's implementing the new WiFi system in an effort to enhance e-learning and provide real-time collaboration capabilities. The deployment is being handled by Xirrus.

"We conducted substantial testing of several WiFi manufacturers, but found only the Xirrus WiFi Array capable of supporting the heavy loads from our wireless computer carts," said Charlie Roberts, technology and media director at Washington County SD, in a statement released this week. "We were very impressed with the user capacity and bandwidth of the WiFi Array--it is easy to install and provides the flexibility needed for our growing wireless population."

The deployment has begun at seven schools in the district, with the remainder "being completed as soon as possible," according to Xirrus. Washington County SD serves more than 22,000 K-12 students in 17 communities.
