NASA Opens INSPIRE Program to High Schoolers

NASA is now accepting applications for its Interdisciplinary National Science Program Incorporating Research Experience (INSPIRE), a program for high school students interested in pursuing STEM careers.

INSPIRE is a year-round program centered around an online component called the Online Learning Community, which provides educational activities, resources, and collaborative tools for students to interact with their peers and NASA experts.

Applications are open now through June 30. Selections for the Online Learning Community will be announced in September. Only those who are accepted into the INSPIRE Online Learning Community will be eligible to apply for a hands-on summer STEM program in 2010.

According to NASA, those who qualify for the National School Lunch Program will be eligible to receive a free laptop to support their efforts in the program.
