Radiant Logic Adds Security Features to Virtual Directory Suite

Radiant Logic, which sells virtual directory software, has released an updated version of its application suite that adds new security features, as well as functionality for Microsoft SharePoint environments.

RadiantOne Suite 5.2, which consists of Virtual Directory Server Context Edition 5.2 and Identity and Correlation Server 5.2, now provides a mechanism for enforcing security at the data source level. A virtual directory offers a consolidated view of user identities pulled from multiple data sources, including directories, databases, and applications.

The new Global Identifier & Profile Builder allows enterprises to create a unified list of identities and their profiles drawn from the various sources without having to centralize security. With identity correlation and join capabilities, RadiantOne builds user profiles across multiple data sources and delegates credentials checking to the appropriate backend sources.

RadiantOne's new Membership & Policy Builder for SharePoint allows customers to dynamically assign users to roles based on attributes found in their profiles. Rules can be built out of attributes from many data sources and be as complex as required by the authorization and profile policy. On the data management side, this alleviates the work of defining and maintaining static role members. On the configuration side, the application determines what identities should be assigned to a particular role, enabling SharePoint to enforce finer-grained policies.

These innovations come at a time when institutions are paying more attention to granting access to secured resources to users outside of the firewall.

"With the rise of SharePoint in the enterprise, and the need to extend it to external populations, there's a huge need to provide unified access and enable finer-grained authorization," said Dieter Schuller, vice president of business development. "This release of the RadiantOne Suite, with its new Membership & Policy Builder, delivers a simple, cost effective way for companies to accelerate their SharePoint deployments."
