E2020 Launches Online Career and Technical Education Program

E2020, a provider of online learning solutions, has launched a new career and technical education (CTE) curriculum, Career Pathways, which is a suite of interactive online courses to help high school students gain practical career training leading to industry-recognized certifications in business, health sciences, and information technology.

According to the company, the Career Pathways curriculum is designed to ensure students develop the skills necessary for job readiness and placement and to provide "credible training endorsement for their resumes." The company has been working with industry and educators to identify the practical skills that students need to succeed in these careers.

"Today's employers are increasingly placing a premium on technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, in addition to math, science, and reading," said Pete Findley, VP of career education for E2020, in a prepared statement. "Ideally, the right mix of academic and career-focused programs will give students a jump start on preparing for high demand jobs, whether or not that student is going to college immediately after high school."

The technology-based curriculum is designed to be integrated into schools' current CTE offerings. According to the company, the program offers personalized instruction and flexibility to enable students to pursue the CTE path of interest to them, even when the program has modest enrollment levels, and teachers can work with students individually or in small groups as they progress through the curriculum.

According to information provided by a spokesperson from the company, E2020 is developing five multi-year programs of study which will prepare students for the following industry certifications:

  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA);
  • Medical Coder (CCA);
  • Pharmacy Technician (CPhT);
  • Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS); or
  • Help Desk Technician (A+).
