Cube Measures Geophysical Activity
The ESM-8000 is a tri-axial accelerometer used to measure shock, vibration or acceleration in response to any significant force, such as seismic activity. This 2" cube can be used as a teaching tool in a variety of K-12 and college courses. For example, one instructor puts the cube on a tripod to track the acceleration of model rockets. Powered by a computer, the ESM-8000 permits real-time data recording. Geophysical Dynamics, Inc., Newbury Park, CA, (805) 499-7107.
