THE DOCUPEN RC800 is Planon’s latest pen-sized scanner. It measures nearly nine inches long, weighs two ounces, and is powered by a rechargeable lithium ion battery. The scanner does not need to be plugged into a computer to function, and can save hundreds of pages on its 8MB flash drive. Images can then be transferred to a PC or Mac computer using a USB cable. The PC-compatible ScanSoft PaperPort OCR software for the Docupen RC800 is included in the package, but Mac users must download the necessary programfrom Planon’s site. Price: $299.99.
