Grants: Omvox Offers $500,000 for K-12 Schools

2/22/2007—Omvox Telecom has launched a new grant allowance program for K-12 schools in the United States, offering a total of $500,000. Schools can receive up to $2,500, which can be used to fund Omvox's Alertify mass notification system.

According to Omvox, all public and private elementary, middle and high schools in the United States are eligible for the grants. Money awarded through the program can be used to fund a school's implementation of Alertify, a Web-hosted service that allows schools to communicate with the community via telephone and e-mail. Alertify allows users to record voice messages and send them to desired recipients wit one phone call. Alerts and notifications can be sent to land lines, cellular phones, and e-mail.

The system, according to Omvox, is currently being used in schools to report emergency closings, to notify the community of school events and deadlines, to announce policy changes, and to perform other functions.

The company said there are no prerequisites to qualify for the grant. Schools wishing to apply for the money can do so immediately by contacting Kimberly Alsobrook at 866-525-3784, ext. 257. As of press time, there was no information about the grant program available on the company's website.
