Wikis for Education: Angel Contributes Custom Code to Open Source Community

Angel Learning has contributed more of its source code to the open source community. The company this week made its TiddlyWiki customization technology freely available for development for educational purposes through Eduforge.

TiddlyWiki was already an open-source wiki development tool. But Angel developed custom code (plugins and extensions using client-side technologies) to tailor TiddlyWiki more specifically for education applications. These changes include giving users different educational roles and designating appropriate permissions based on those roles. (This allows instructors, for example, to manage wikis and remove content that might be inappropriate for the course or the audience.)

Angel had previously contributed open-source code to the IMS GLC Common Cartridge digital content standard in 2006.
