Ohio Districts Extend SchoolNet Contracts

Two Ohio districts--the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and Columbus City Public Schools--have renewed their contracts with SchoolNet, according to information released by the company Monday. SchoolNet provides data, assessment, and curriculum management services and technologies through its SchoolNet Instructional Management Solution. The new deal renews SchoolNet's contract as the provider of Cleveland's curriculum and instructional management system for five more years and Columbus' for three more.

"Today we are striving for nothing less than a school district of premier status. The need has never been more urgent," said Eugene T.W. Sanders, CEO of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, in a statement released Monday. "Our need to achieve excellence is based on the skills and experiences required to succeed in a fast-paced, technological global economy. SchoolNet provides the technology platform to support our continuous improvement process. This will be a key component of our future success."

"Since beginning with SchoolNet only three years ago, Columbus has moved off of the state watch list and we have seen our district meet AYP in every category for the 2006-07 school year," said Pete Maneff, high school curriculum executive director of Columbus City Public Schools, in a separate statement. "SchoolNet's platform is now a foundation that Columbus uses to run its daily business."

SchoolNet's performance management system includes Web-based software programs that allow district and school administration to access teacher instruction and student data and analysis reports. Technologies include benchmark testing and analysis, curriculum and instructional management, and centralized data integration and management.

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District serves more than 50,000 students in 130 schools. Columbus City Public Schools serves more than 55,000 students in 125 schools and centers.
