Purdy School District Moves to Enterprise Surveillance Manager

Purdy R-II School, a district in Missouri, has selected ipConfigure's scalable enterprise surveillance manager, ESM 4.5, as part of a district-wide upgrade project for its three schools. ipConfigure will be managing a mixture of Mobotix and Axis network cameras in the district. The school district said that, by leveraging an IP-based solution, it expects to gain better image quality as well as greater accessibility and control of its surveillance solution.

ESM provides a browser-based interface, which makes the system available from any computer on the network. "If a fight breaks out on school property or if there is an altercation between a teacher and a student, the system offers accessibility from any PC or Macintosh computer with a network connection to the school district's network," explained Brad Stice, ipConfigure's national sales manager.

ESM operates with off the shelf technology, including IP cameras, servers, storage, and switches and is capable of supporting an unlimited number of cameras, buildings, and users. Each server can support between eight and 120 cameras.

The surveillance system is also in use at Virginia-based Hampton City Schools and Sparta Area Schools in Michigan.
