Desire2Learn Launches Sparks K-12 LMS Platform

LMS developer Desire2Learn has launched Sparks, a new K-12 learning management system designed for online education.

The company said it conducted extensive research with organizations focused on K-12 learning to determine what factors are most important to educators, and it designed Sparks with these results in mind.

While offering all of the standard functionality of contemporary LMS software, Sparks also aims to address:

Flexible and affordable technology to engage all learners;
Access for all;
Personalized learning;
Student engagement, monitoring, and retention;
Standards-based learning and assessment; and
Academic continuity.

In addition, the company said it designed Sparks to make it easier for schools of any size and budget to start or expand, and manage, eLearning programs, blended or hybrid online courses, academic credit recovery, and online professional development, as well as to to maintain reliable communication between homes, schools, and communities.
