3 Texas Districts Add SaaS for Managing Hiring

Three Texas school districts have subscribed to a web-based human resources system for applicant tracking and hiring. Tomball Independent School District, Irving ISD, and San Antonio ISD have all signed on with TalentEd Recruit & Hire from Netchemia to manage their hiring processes. These three districts serve about 100,000 students and have about 13,200 staff members combined.

Vickie Vogel, Irving's coordinator of substitutes within the HR department, said her district chose the service because of its flexibility, customization features, and integration with other applications in use by the district. "Our hiring managers frequently comment to us about how easy it is to search for applicants in Recruit & Hire," said Vogel. "With Recruit & Hire, we have interfaces set up with Gallup and Safe Schools, which help to automate our processes. In addition, reference checks are sent to references as soon as the applicant submits an application."

The company has made a great deal of headway in selling its Web-based service in Texas. So far 50 districts in the state are using Recruit & Hire. The software-as-a-service program, which is designed to work in the K-12 environment, provides features for job requisition standardization, recruitment, candidate self-service, applicant screening and tracking, interview management, and reporting and analytics. The service includes a document library and an online community.

The program comes in two flavors, Essentials, which starts at $750 per year, and Professional Edition, which starts at $2,000 per year. Final pricing for each version depends on the size of the school district.

"TalentEd Recruit & Hire aligned with all of the goals that we established when we decided to improve the talent acquisition process in our district," said Michael Williams, Tomball ISD's director of personnel. "It is important to us that we hire the best teachers and staff for our district, and we now feel that we have the ability to do just that."
