Cambium Learning Group to Combine ExploreLearning and Learning A-Z Brands
Ed tech company Cambium Learning Group has announced plans to combine its ExploreLearning and Learning A-Z brands, with a new name and brand identity to be introduced in early 2026. The combined offering will provide supplemental curriculum and professional learning resources in K-12 literacy, math, and science to more than 15 million students and teachers across 150-plus countries, according to a news release.
According to research from EdReports and Instructure, teachers spend an average of 12 hours per week searching for and creating instructional resources, and use 50 technology tools on average each year. The proliferation of technologies and resources leads to fragmented data and reporting, making it harder to evaluate student outcomes, Cambium noted. By combining the ExploreLearning and Learning A-Z brands, the company aims to "create a single, unified partner for educators, delivering research-based, research-driven supplemental curriculum, accelerating critical skill development for students in literacy, math, and science, while simplifying access to trusted solutions that continue to support teachers at the center of the classroom."
The new organization will be led by Learning A-Z President Aaron Ingold, while Dr. David Shuster, founder and president of ExploreLearning, will move to a senior advisor role.
"As literacy rates decline and opportunity gaps persist in math and science, the urgency to support students and teachers has never been greater," commented Ashley Andersen Zantop, chairman and CEO of Cambium, in a statement. "Foundational skills in literacy and STEM are non-negotiables to prepare students for the careers of tomorrow. With award-winning solutions like Gizmos, Reflex, Frax, Raz-Plus, Reading A-Z, and Raz-Kids, ExploreLearning and Learning A-Z are trusted leaders in their fields. By combining their strengths, we are equipping teachers with research-based curriculum solutions that target the gating factors to student success and spark the joy of learning. Together with our K-12 partners, we empower educators with effective learning experiences that students love and teachers rely on. By uniting these two beloved brands, we're helping teachers and administrators simplify their classrooms and unlock success with easy-to-use resources that spark curiosity, build confidence, and drive real results."
"Literacy, math and science are more than academic subjects — they're the keys that unlock a student's future. When children master these key skills, they unlock deeper learning, accelerate progress, and build the confidence that fuels success far beyond graduation," said Ingold. "By bringing our two brands together, we're creating a powerful force for change in K-12 education. This combination allows us to deliver a broader, more impactful suite of solutions that directly addresses the barriers to student success. With the combined talent and scale of our teams, we're poised to deepen our reach and elevate outcomes for the communities we serve."
"At ExploreLearning, we believe that all students can develop a love of learning and achieve long-term success," said Shuster. "To ignite that spark, teachers need easy-to-use tools that combine research-proven instruction with experiences that inspire joy, curiosity, and self-belief. Our combination with Learning A-Z amplifies this mission. Together, we'll be a stronger partner to schools, helping every student develop the most essential skills across K-12's core subjects, setting the stage for a life of learning and opportunity."
