The 4.4X drive features a data transfer rate of 676KB/sec, 150ms average access time and an average seek time of 110ms. Pioneer's patented magazine provides quick access to multiple CD-ROMs without manual disc switching or special command routines. Discs are placed in the magazine trays upside-down to prevent dust from obscuring the drive's optical head. The magazine can also be locked for enhanced media security.
