CAD/CAM Sys. Gets New Modeling Tools

ANVIL-5000, a mechanical CADD/CAM/CAE system used in community colleges and universities, debuts Version 5.1.

The new version boasts new functionality in two key areas: CAM and relational/parametric modeling. For instance, users can now cut vertical and nearly-vertical multiple surfaces in a single tool path; and use ball, flat, bull-nose or tapered cutters in 5-axis swarf cuts.

Four new constraints have been added to both the 2D and 3D editions of ANVIL Intelligent Modeler (AIM) for greater control over how the relational engine adjusts design parameters. The wire EDM module has also been improved. Manufacturing and Consulting Services, Inc., Scottsdale, AZ, (602) 932-9329. W
