Publisher Distributes Scientific Content

Scientific American has granted Peregrine Publishers (PPI) a non-exclusive license to distribute portions of its intellectual property via electronic means to science educators and students worldwide. Peregrine creates teaching and learning resources for secondary and university science curriculum. Its flagship Web service, The Biology Place (www.biology.com), features inquiry-based activities that rely on proprietary and non-proprietary content. The firm is developing additional Web services, including The Chemistry Place, scheduled to be launched in prototype next February under the leadership of two scholars at the University of Illinois.
