Bridge Enables Wireless Net Access

The WavePOINT II wireless access point, which bridges standard Ethernet LANs to WaveLAN wireless LANs, permits wireless Internet access within a campus environment.

WaveMANAGER software provides remote enterprise-wide configuration, management and diagnostics for all WavePOINT bridges on an enterprise LAN. A modular architecture suits seamless IEEE compliance upgrades.

The compact access point (7" x 10" x 2") utilizes dual PCMCIA-based, RF network interface modules to maximize coverage, increase capacity and enhance flexibility. A spanning tree protocol eliminates network loops and accompanying broadcast storms, even if two nodes are accidentally assigned the same network ID.

By using two identical interface cards operating on different channels, one can double aggregate throughput, supporting from 60 to over 240 users. Lucent Technologies, Murray Hill, NJ, (800) ATT-WAVE, www.wavelan.com.
